The Institute was set up as a tribute to the memory of Late Badri Prasad Poddar, philanthropist and educationist and the founder of the B.P.Poddar Group.
The B.P. Poddar Institute of Managment & Technology was initially affiliated to the University of Kalyani (in the year 1999) and later on in the year 2001 as per the instruction of Govt. of West Bengal, the Institute was affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata. The courses offered are structured according to prevailing international standards. The Institute blends a dynamic and progressive approach to education with high quality, innovative and result oriented programmes which has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
Central library: The Institute has a well equipped Central Library fully automated through Library Software books conference proceedings, periodicals ,journal, reports, maps etc and also CD/DVD. Books on almost all subjects according to academic course structure are available in the Library. The Library managers a reprographic centre to cater to the needs of the authorized users. A part from Librarian and other Library staff working dedicatedly for extending best possible service to the users there is 8 member library committee comprising of the librarian and faculty representation of all department including principal, Library being the heart of the Institute the management gives highest priority for its development and resource expansion.
The Central Library plays a key role is the academic activities of the Institute .The Library conveniently located in the Block “C” (3rd Floor) of the Academic Building.
Hostel: The Institute runs the Boys-Hostel in tie up with Mr. Dilip Dhar having a total accomodation of 125 Students
Girls hostels:
The Institute runs the Girls-Hostel in tie up with Ms Balaka Bhattachayya having a total accomodation of 100 Students
