Fee Structure
Fee structure for various courses:
Admission Fee(one time) – Rs 1000.
Tuition Fee(annual) – Rs 12000 for B.Tech, Rs 7500 for M.Tech/M.Sc, Rs 50000 for MCA and Rs 5000 for PhD.
Other Fee (including lab and examination fees) – Rs 4000 for all.
Institute Development Fee(annual) – Rs 10000 for B.Tech, Rs 5000 for M.Tech/M.Sc,
Alumni Fee(paid in final semester) – Rs 500.
Souvenir Fee(in pre final semester) – Rs 500.
Hostel Admission Fee – Rs 500.

Placements
Placement : College Khabar will publish final placement records at top engineering colleges with official figures. In that series National Institute of Technology, Rourkela has performed quite well in placements 2010 and has 600 offers.
Placements at NIT Rourkela start bit slow as recession was showing its shadow over Indian Job Market. Offers were initially from core manufacturing and PSUs like IOCL, Mecon Limited, NTPC, and NDMC etc. Later half of the academic session saw a steep rise in total offers. IT started hiring from Jan 2010 bring back smiles over faces who were still waiting for a Job Offer. Total 56 companies has visited institute till date. Finally placement session 2009-10 showed strength of institute and rely of Industry in the students of NITRKL.

Campus:
The campus of the institute consisting of the institute buildings, halls of residence and staff colony is situated at the eastern end of Rourkela steel city, beyond Sector-1 over an area of 262 hectares of land provided by the Government of Orissa. It is a residential campus offering accomodation to faculty, staff and students. The campus has all the amenities for developing personal, social and academic skills of the student community.
The city of Rourkela came into prominence in the year 1954-55, with the decision of the Government of India to set up the first Public Sector Steel Plant in this locality in collaboration with the then West Germany. The city is a huge metropolis connected with all parts of the country by railway and road. The population of the city is about 6 lakhs.
Central library: NIT Rourkela Library plays a vital role in meeting the present and anticipated future needs. It covers the total library area of 4975 square feet with 250 reading seats and AC room which is used by all the library users to read inside the library for longer hours. This room is extensively used by Student Communities on all days excluding National holidays. Copies of most books and reference books are available for use inside the library only.
