Govind Ballabh Pant Engineering College, Pauri (Garhwal) is an Engineering Institute established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 1989 for imparting Engineering Education and promoting technological environment of Garhwal region, the state and country. It started its first academic session from 1991-92 with a limited intake. The College is affiliated to Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun, with effect from batch 2006-07, onwards. The institute has always been in tune to the practical problems and priorities of present scenario of the world. And as a panacea, it aims at shaping engineers, whose number can be at par with their counter parts anywhere in the country. Our students have gone on to make a mark for themselves in top notch companies in India & abroad, while other have persuaded academics in reputed institutes and Universities in India, America & other countries. Presently,the institute is an Autonomous Institute of the Government of Uttarakhand and affiliated to the Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun since academic year 2006-07.

Placements
Placements: The Office of the Training & Placements (T&P) apart from regular placement liaisons with the industries, organizes a series of career counseling sessions and tests right in the second year for engineering courses and first year for MCA, to help students opt for apt career options based upon their respective interests, competencies and industrial demands. The T&P in close association with the ISTE Students Chapter activities of the college, keeps track of the skill set development of the students on a regular basis and also organizes guest lectures by Corporate Experts, Scientists and Professors to help students mould into better future professionals. The Office also maintains industry profile database of the graduates of the college and of graduates selected for higher education in India and abroad.
Our students with their hard work and determination have carved a niche for themselves in the industries, and are well placed in reputed organizations all over India. gbpecThe College is located in hilly terrain of Garhwal Himalayas at an altitudeof about1650 meters providing excellent panorama of natural beauty. Pauri is the divisional headquarters of Garhwal region and is well connected through roads with nearest railway stations Nazibabad and Haridwar of Northern Railway. The campus is a sprawling over 169 acres of land with thick green forest. The institute is situated near village Ghurdauri, about 13 Km from Pauri city on Pauri Devprayag road in district of Pauri Garhwal. The climate at Pauri and college campus is cold and pleasant for most of the year, except from mid December to February when it becomes freeze cold and chilly. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant (Dehradun). State and private transport buses ply on Najibabad – Kotdwara-Pauri and Hardwar – Rishikesh – Devprayag-Pauri routes. The journey by road from Najibabad/ Hardwar to Pauri takes about 4-5 hours on hilly track. From Pauri, one can travel either by bus or taxi, running from Pauri to Ghurdauri. Strategic location of the campus amidst the salubrious environment and the symbiotic connections with the nature together make it an ideal place for seriously inclined learner.
Central library: Pride of the institute is large volumes (30000) of books in the areas of Engineering, Applied sciences, Humanity and Management, and ancillary areas from various Indian and foreign publications. Library is a hub around which all academic activities of the institute revolve. The library subscribes to national and international journals, including e-journals through consortium in the field of technology, magazines on current affairs and general interest to keep the students update with new technology & events. The students have free in-hand facilities for books and journals.
