Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) formerly, Indore Vishwavidyalaya, established in 1964 at Indore – the pride city of Malwa, is the leading univeristy in the central part of India. DAVV has envisaged the need of qualified professionals in all walks of life and society. It has encompassed the frontline areas of education including Science, Applied Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Law, Journalism, Tourism, Managment and Engineering. it has over thirty teaching departments offering, graduate and post-graduate programs. Most of them also provide the facilities of doctrol research. DAVV is a state university supported by both, the goverment of MP and University Grant Commission (UGC). Most of them also provide the facilities of doctrol research. DAVV is a state university supported by both, the goverment of MP and University Grant Commission (UGC). It name appears in the common wealth yearbook and it has been declared as Model University by the Government of M.P. DAVV has been declared a four star (****) university by National Assesment and Accredation Council (NAAC) – UGC. In addition to its own departments, it has got over 110 affiliated colleges. It also provides centres and forums for learning and knowledge exchange for many small and medium scale industrial units and business houses, located in Indore, Dewas, Pithampur etc.
DAVV has also organized academic events like Indian events like Indian Science Congress, International Conference, Vice-Chancellors’ meets and youth festival in the past decade and achieved professional excellence. Research publication in National and International Journals, participation in editorial boards and book writing by university professors are a regular feature confirming to its academic excellence. DAVV has three campuses: Nalanda Parisar, Takshashila Parisar and Avanti Parisar. Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Administratative Block, Office of Dean- Student’s Welfare, Priting Press, School of Economics, Centre of Employment Information’s etc. are located at Nalanda Parisar. All Other Centres, Schools, Departments, Institutes and Central Library of the university are located at Takshashila Parisar and Avanti Parisar. Apart from individual computing facility for differint departments there is a large and the most modern IT center in Takshashila parisar for all DAVV students, faculty and other staff of the university.
Central library: Students of IET have regular access to the central library of DAVV, which has got over 1.25 lac books including engineering and computer domain. It also subscribes to relevant periodicals and current contents. In addition, IET has built up its own library of books with latest editions. Presently, it has got more than 15000 books and it is expected to receive over 800 books per semester. Library has got full computer facility for searching and making record of the books issued. DAVV is the member of Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) which is a major programme of the University Grants Commission (UGC) initiated in 1991. The programme is directed towards modernization of libraries and information centres, and establishment of a mechanism for information transfer and access, to support scholarship, learning and academic pursuits. Several journals are available to this university through UGC-Infonet.
Hostel: Institute has constructed two independent Boys Hostels in its Green Campus. Hostels have a capacity to accommodate around 250 students. A separate dining hall has been constructed to accommodate 150 students, who can take their meals at a time. Girl students get accommodation in the girl’s hostels of the university at A.B. Road, between Bhanwarkuan Chowk and Navlakha Chowk.
Hostel Fees: The Institute will charge following fee from the student who has been allotted a room in hostel at campus premises.
Room rent – Rs 5000 per annum
Recreation charges-Rs 150 for 10 months in a year.
Electricity charges – Rs 50 per month
Mess charges will be as per contractor rates.
