Padmanava College of Engineering – College Details

Padmanava College of Engineering was set up in the year 1999 by the Padmanava Educational Trust on the auspicious Birthday of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehuru. The trust is a non-profit making organization with the sole aim of development of Education in Orissa. The College, situated in the heart of the Steel City, Rourkela, Sector -4, yet away from the jostle bustle of the city life with its campus along-with the famous Indira Gandhi Park, lies within the bracket formed by the Ring Road in the eastern side and the road that goes beside the STPI in the western side. The lush green trees and the serene atmosphere provide a fitting ambience for academic pursuits where learning really means evolving. The College has received due recognition from Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela to work with it. The Govt. Of Orissa has given its due recognition and concurrence to the institute. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the apex governing body of all the technical education institutes in the country, has given its due approval to the college.

Central library:
The PCE Library has a rich collection of books. At present it has 18000 books on different subjects. There are 1500 titles. The library, to keep pace with the latest developments in various engineering fields, subscribes to International Journals, Newspapers, Periodicals and Magazines. There are 82 National & International Journals and 18 Magazines subscribed by the College.
The library has four sections for easy access of books by students & faculty.
Book Bank section     :     This facility is available to each and every student, right up to the 8th semester.
Reference Section     :     It has stock of most of the latest journals & magazines and text books prescribed by BPUT.
Issue Section     :     Students can borrow books from the issue section on specified days and retain them for two weeks.
Online Library Section     :     PCE is an active member of DELNET (Online Library), for exchange and sharing of programs and Information both

National and International scale.
Apart from this the Central Library is in the process of becoming a part of Online Journal subscription; thus students and faculty will be benefited immensely from this facility to have access to the latest information and research activity taking place all the world over.

The Central Library is going to be automated by Barcode Generator Software, which will help in Stock entry, Stock Taking, and Circulation etc.

Hostel: Hostel & Mess
The Padmanava College of Engineering, Rourkela gives high priority to Hostel accommodation. Separate Hostel accommodation for gents and ladies students, particularly for outside students are available nearer to the college. Intending students shall enquiry in advance from Superintendent of respective hostel regarding availability of accommodation either in 1st year / subsequent year and prepare accordingly.

A student may be permitted on application in prescribed form during beginning of each academic year to get admission in the respective hostel / lodge with his/her parents or local guardian at Rourkela. Students permitted to stay outside the hostel ( after taking admission in the respective hostel )are exempted of mess charges only and may be entitled the refund of the mess advance if paid at the time of admission. Each student in order to complete the admission in any of the hostel ( i.e. Gents / Ladies hostel ) has to select a local guardian at Rourkela who may be contacted in time of emergency. The name, full address, both office and residence, telephone number, designation and willingness of the local guardian have to be furnished at the time if admission in a prescribed format.

General Rules and Regulations:
The following rules are illustrative and for any point the decision of the college authorities is final. The students are reminded that they individually are bound by written undertaking that , they are prepared to stay in which ever Room they are allotted and will not resist intermixing of students of different classes in Hostels and that they will abide by the rules and regulations of Hostel(s). The preferences will be given to out station students on first come first basis. However localite student may opt for hostel facility provided accommodation is / are available after giving priority to outstation students.
