Campus: The University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET) was founded with a vision to serve the country in the twenty first century by offering its students advanced knowledge in Engineering and Technology, Science and other areas of scholarship. The intellectual stimulation that is provide to each member of UIET community generates a passion in him/her to work wisely, creatively and effectively for the national development.The UIET is the brainchild of its founder Prof. S.S. Katiyar – an eminent scientist and educationist. set admist sylvan surroundings with an area of about 265 acres, it is one of the constituents of CSJM University, Kanpur. Founded in1996 with an initial strength of 240 students, it has now more than 1700 students on its rolls in all the six disciplines of Engineering and other career-oriented programs like MCA, BCA, M.Sc. (Electronics), M.Sc. (Bioinformatics) and Advanced PG Diploma in Bioinformatics. It is a self-financed institute dedicated to advancing knowledge and educating students in Engineering and Technology as well as Sciences.
Over the years, there has been a continuous progress in all-academic activities. Parallel improvements in facilities and infrastructure to keep this institute at par with others have been made. It is also evolving and changing with national aspirations, national perspectives and worldwide trends. University has made consistent efforts in providing appropriate teaching-learning experiences to the students. Apart from class-room instructions, other avenues of learning are also provided to the students that include projects, internship, field training, summer workshops, seminars, study-tours etc. The faculty members keep abreast with recent development for their respective subject areas by consulting recent publications through online journals, internet facilities, laboratory work, research studies, and conferences and through lectures delivered by guest faculties.
Central library: The University has state of the art computer center. The center is well equipped with computing resources and caters to the academic needs of the University. The computer center provides hands on experience to the users and always keeps pace with the advancement of technology. The faculty and students in the university campus have free access to the computer center and use internet facility available therein. The Centre is equipped with the most advanced computer systems, line printers, laser printers, scanner, CD writers, zip drives etc.The computer center also offers courses like Diploma in Computer application (D.C.A.), Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Sciences (P.G.D.C.S.) and Certificate courses in Computer Sciences. This Center also carries out compilation and processing of data after the completion of examinations and is responsible for the preparation and timely declaration of the results.Board of Studies, Academic Council and Executive Council helps in the formulation and implementation of new academic programmes.
Hostel: The University has three well-furnished girls’ hostels with a total capacity of 500 inmates, a boys hostel with the capacity of 400 inmates. All the hostels have mess facilities at very moderate rates, 24 hour power supply, common hall, TV room, reading rooms, telephone, recreational and sports facilities with a tight security system. The students are allowed to use their own computer in the rooms.
