  • 100 percent placement at IIM-Tiruchirappalli

    The summer placements at Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli has reported a successful season for its second batch (2012-14). According to officials, the institute has registered 100 per cent placement with Rs 1,00,000 as the highest stipend offered for a two-month internship.

    Over the years the placements has been varying with respect to the placements at IIM-T. Last year, though, the highest stipend was Rs 1,20,000. Overall, the average stipend for the internship period has come down from Rs 53,000 to Rs 41,000. Out of 102 students in the batch, 92 registered for summer placements, and all of them got placed. Of the six new IIMs, Tiruchi is the second after Rohtak to complete its summer placements.

    Second year of placement operation hosted by the Institutes witnessed a total of 39 recruiters out of which 20 were participating for the first time.

    Major recruiting section included the banking, financial services and insurancer, followed by IT companies etc. Banks of private sector such as ICICI, Citibank, Axis Bank, IDBI and Federal Bank participated. Brands such as Dabur and Kellogg India offered sales, marketing and market research slots; marketing and human resources placements were offered by Boehringer Ingelheim, mHealth Ventures and Brand Care.

    The RBI made a debut in the process with openings in foreign exchange trading. In addition to profiles such as corporate banking, advertising, supply chain management and manufacturing, roles in public admin and management were also on offer.

    Though marketing emerged as the forte of IIM-Tiruchirappalli, a substantial majority of students with work-ex in IT-sector helped attract several companies for this function including Ameex Technologies, Redington, CSS Corp, and Webenza. The roles offered varied from business analytics to business process consultant.
