• # JEE Main 2013 detailed subject-wise analysis | Paper 1 - JEE Main 2013 topic-wise review

(Last Updated 10.30.00 PM - 7th April, 2013)

More than 14 lakh students appeared for this year's JEE Main 2013. That is a significant increase from the 10 lakh students that took the AIEEE last year.

The initial report suggested that the difficulty level was almost similar to last year's AIEEE. Check out that report here: EARLY REPORT.

I
t is now time to do a detailed analysis for each subject.

PHYSICS

This year the highest number of questions was from Thermodynamics and Mechanics. The questions were moderate to difficult.

Update 1 - Physics was tougher than both Maths and Chemistry this year.

Update 2 - Assertion Reasoning Questions were new this year and many students were taken aback with these questions.

Update 3 - Difficulty Analysis

Easy Questions:33%
Medium: 47%
Difficult Questions: 20%

Update 4 - Topic Wise Analysis

Topic Number of Questions (Percentage) Electricity & Magnetism 10 Qs (33%) Heat & Thermodynamics 3 Qs (10%) Mechanics 8 Qs (27%) Modern Physics 2 Qs (7%) EM Waves, Communication & Electronics 3 Qs (10%) Optics 4 Qs (13%)

MATHS

The bulk of the questions were from again from Algebra. Geometry questions were easy and so were the questions on calculus. Though, we think the questions on Calculus were slightly tricky.

Update 1 - Assertion Reasoning questions stumped the students. Could affect total marks.

Update 2 - Difficulty Analysis

Easy Questions:50%
Medium: 40%
Difficult Questions: 10%

Update 3 - Topic Wise Analysis

 Topic Number of Questions (Percentage) Algebra 9 Qs (30%) Co-ordinate Geometry 7 Qs (23%) Differential Calculus 3 Qs (10%) Integral Calculus 4 Qs (13%) Trigonometry 2 Qs (7%) Vectors & 3D Geometry 3 Qs (10%) Mathematical Reasoning and Statistics 2 Qs (7%)

CHEMISTRY

Like last year, this year the emphasis was on Physical Chemistry. Students who are good at physical chemistry would have breezed through it and would have scored a large number of marks in a short span of time.

Update 1 - Difficulty Analysis

Easy Questions:37%
Medium: 60%
Difficult Questions: 3%

Update 2 - Topic Wise Analysis

Topic Number of Questions (Percentage) Inorganic Chemistry 7 Qs (23%) Organic Chemistry 9 Qs (30%) Physical Chemistry 14 Qs (47%)
