    Commonwealth Games 2014 Glasgow starts with great ebullient

    Commonwealth games is the third largest multi-sport event after the Olympics and the Asian Games. The twentieth version of the game commenced yesterday with great enthusiastic in Glasgow and will continue till 3rd august 2014.
    This is the third time Scotland is hosting the game, previously held in 1970 and 1986.
    With 4,560 competing athletes across 17 different sports, 71 nations and 261 gold medals in all, this will be the largest multisport event ever held in Scotland.

    Last version of the game was held in 2010 at New Delhi, India where Australia with 74 gold medals and 177 medals in total was the champion. India remained at the second spot with 38 gold and 101 medals in total.

    Indiaís Expect: And Masters of the Event.

    India's contingent consist of 215 athletes and will be competing in 14 out of 17 disciplines at play.

    India expect high from this largest team in the event. And medals are expected from Vikas Gowda in Menís Discus throw, Kamalpreet Singh in Menís Hammer throw, Annu Rani in Womenís Javelin throw and from menís 4 x 400 Relay team that comprises of Rajiv Arokia, Kunhu Mohammed, Sachin Roby, Lalit Mathur, Jithu Baby, Jibin Sebasti

    P V Sindhu and the pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa .

    Ashish Kumar in the men category and Dipa Karmakar in the women team.Ashish had won silver and a bronze in the menís floor exercises and vault in the 2010 Games in Delhi.

    Men Boxing:
    This is another event where India keeps a big faith, with big names like Vijender Singh, L Devendro Singh, Manoj Kumar and Sumit Sangwan.

    Women Boxing:
    5 times world champion Mary Kom and Pinki Jangra competing under 51 Kg category, Sarita Devi in 60 kg and Pooja Rani in 75 kg category India assure the top medal from this event.

    Vijay Kumar, Indiaís Olympic silver medalist pistol shooter, Gagan Narang and Omkar Singh are all expected to better their individual tally of three medals each, they won in last CWG. Medals are also expected from Abhinav Bindra and Manavjit Singh Sandhu in menís event and Heena Sidhu,Meena Kumari and Anisa Sayyed in womenís event.

    Table Tennis:
    Sharath Kamal,Soumyajit Ghosh and Harmeet Desai in the menís event are expect to performed much better. Indiaís challenge in the womenís category will be led by K. Shamini.

    Sushil Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt are the giant in this event and they are accompanied by Pawan Kumar and Satyavart Kadian, who have also won gold at Commonwealth Wrestling Championship in South Africa. In Womenís category Indiaís hope rest on Babita Phogat.

    Katulu Ravi Kumar and Sukhen Dey in menís category and Sanjita Chanu and Vandna Gupta in womenís category are exected to do much better than their 8 medals won in last CWG.
