    IIT Delhi to open MBA Admission to Non-Engineering Background

    The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has announced that starting from the coming academic session; its new MBA program would be available to students from all academic streams. Earlier, these courses by the Department of Management Studies were offered to only those students with engineering and technology background or those with Masters in Science and Commerce or Economics.

    The eligibility of a student would be based on the basis of their academic record, starting from their performance in Class X and XII apart from their CAT score and performance in group discussion and personal interview. The extracurricular activities and professional experience of a candidate will be taken into consideration as well.

    "The changes are aligned with IIT's mission to cater to the changing demands of the corporate world. By making the curriculum more industry relevant and focusing on innovative ways of teaching, the department aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry requirements," said Dr. Shveta Singh, Associate Professor, DMS, IIT-Delhi.

    "We believe that knowledge shouldn't be restricted to specific disciplines and students from all fields make a good mix at any institution, especially in terms of cross-disciplinary learning. Also the corporate world is getting increasingly competitive, the demand for qualified and multi-talented managers is also rising," said department head Kanika. T. Bhal.
