What could be the possible agenda behind India born Google CEO's visit?
India-born Google CEO Sundar Pichai is scheduled to visit India on December 16, 2015. This will be his maiden visit to India after taking over as the head of one of the world's largest technology companies in Silicon Valley in August earlier this year.
Although, the agenda of Chennai-born Pichai's visit has not formally been made public, the press invite sent by Google hints at the launch of the second version of Google's Android One.
"At Google we believe that technology can change people's lives for the better. Indians are coming online at an astonishing rate with affordable smartphones. These new users have a completely fresh view on what the Internet has to offer. Please block your date for an event with Google as we outline our vision for these users," said the invite for an event on December 16.
Android One represents Google's wish to get more people online in emerging markets by building cheap smartphones that can accomodate the latest version of its Android software. This is not only expected to expand Google's audience, but also, expand their digital advertising space in the long run.
Well, it remains to be seen if Google is able to beat the cheap Chinese phones by offering a price that will make it attractive for the people in the highly competitive Indian smartphone market.
