Twitter Inc confirmed on Tuesday that it is trying to take a great stride to make Twitter tweet stream more relevant with algorithm update! Twitter is testing a timeline format for its tweets, calling it an experiment in the said direction. If finally the microblogging website decides to roll out the new format after testing, it will result in tweets being sorted by relevance instead of traditional reverse chronological order.
This Twitter algorithm update promises more relevant Tweets’ feed for people. Twitter aims to make the feed more sensible to users by placing a higher emphasis on relevancy.
Twitter spokeswoman Liina Potter confirmed this in an emailed statement. She wrote, "Yes, this is an experiment. We're continuing to explore ways to surface the best content for people using Twitter,"
This move by Twitter is seen as a step to combat the challenge of slowing user growth with the appointment of Chief Executive Jack Dorsey. This is expected to make this popular social media platform more engaging.
This was done by Facebook in 2012. In 2012 Facebook changed its format of the Timeline. The change resulted in a stream that started showing events, posts and images by relevance.
