Facebook’s professional version of its popular social network “Facebook at Work” is expected to launch soon in the coming months. The popular social network spent a year in tests, informed a company executive.
The new professional service is developed to provide workplace collaboration to organizations. The service is nearly identical to Facebook’s regular social networking platform, with well known scrolling news "feed", "likes" and a chat service etc. However, the users of the service will have separate profiles that will be distinct from their existing Facebook profiles. The users will also get exclusive products to facilitate their workplace collaboration.
Julien Codorniou, director of global platform partnerships said, "I would say 95 percent of what we developed for Facebook is also adopted for Facebook at Work,”
Facebook started beta-testing this professional service in January this year and has kept it as a free and invite-only service for a few organizations so far. The service will be open to all after launch, and as expected, Facebook plans to charge for the premium services.
