  • GRE Exam-Eligibility, Dates, Application Fee and Exam Pattern

    GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is the standardized test conducted all over the world by ETS (Education Testing Services) for all the aspiring students who are planning to study in the top graduate level schools for master programmes. GRE is one of the world’s largest assessment programmes for graduate admissions all over the world. More than half a million students appear for GRE every year across 160 countries. The score by GRE is accepted by more than 1200 business schools across the globe.


    GRE Exam-Eligibility, Dates, Application Fee and Exam Pattern


    Eligibility for GRE


    GRE (General Record Test) basically does not have any specific eligibility criteria. Any age, any experience person can apply for this exam. Passport is the only eligible document required to appear for this examination. Any other document like Aadhar card, etc will not be used as an identity proof. But on the other part there is a range of eligibilities by the universities where GRE score is accepted. The candidates who have completed their undergraduate course are only eligible for this examination.

    Dates for GRE Test


    GRE (Graduate Record Examination) does not have any particular date for the Examination in India. You can take appointment at the nearest GRE centre and appear for the examination. But during the peak season of Examination like August and December you may not get the desired exam location or time. To avoid this a candidate is advised to pre plan their GRE examination before starting the preparation of the exam. Every person can appear for the GRE Examination in every 21 days, but only 5 times in a span of 12 months.

    Application fee for GRE


    The Application fee for GRE is $205 worldwide which is approx. INR 13500 TO INR 14000. In case an applicant wants to reschedule the exam, they would have to pay extra $50. In case a candidate wants to change the examination centre, they would have to pay $50.

    GRE Exam Pattern


    The GRE Examination is basically divided into three sections- Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning. The Examination can be in computer mode or pen paper mode depending on the centre you choose.

    Analytical Writing- The paper based test has 2 tasks and 2 sections to be completed in a time of 60 minutes. Whereas the computer based has 1 section and two tasks to be completed in a time of 60 minutes.
    Verbal Reasoning- The paper based test has 2 sections and 50 questions to be completed in 70 minutes, whereas the computer mode has 2 sections and 40 questions to be completed in a time of 60 minutes.
    Quantitative Reasoning- The paper based test has 2 sections and 50 questions to be completed in a time span of 80 minutes, whereas the computer mode has 2 sections and 40 questions to be completed in a time span of 70 minutes.

    GRE also offers scholarships to the students who can show their relevant document of financial inability to pay for the examination. There are three types of language examinations which are IELTS, GRE and TOFEL. I's compeltely depend on which country or university student want to take admissions. IELTS Exam is one of most demanding exam among them.
