Brief History behind the Invention of the Cell Phone

In today’s time, cell phone is the most common accessory. The invention of cell phones dates back to around 1918 in Germany. First wireless telephone for use to first class public on a major railway line between Berlin and Hamburg.


The Second World War saw major advances in wireless communication technology. Around 1940’s and 1950’s companies started offering mobile telephone systems in automobiles for public. But they came with many drawbacks. First mobile service was launched in 1946 by AT&T Bell Labs.

Many companies took part in this decade’s long endeavour to create what we now call mobile phones. Watch this interesting video to know the history behind the invention of the first cell phone.
