LiveThe All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has just announced the dates for the 2nd chapter of Common Management Admission Test (CMAT). The registration will start from Aug 3 and last date of registration will be 2nd Sept, the test days are reduced and it will be from Sept 27 to Oct 1 this year.

FORE School of Management, Qutab Institutional Area, which has concluded its campus placement process for the Class of 2012, had a lot to cheer about. The highest salary offered to a FORE graduate this year was INR 32 lakh (offered by the Singapore- based plantation company, Renewable Woods), compared with INR 13 lakh in 2011, and the average annual pay package went from last year’s INR 7 lakh to INR 8 lakh.

MARKETING surged ahead of Finance, the old favourite, as the most sought- after specialisation at the just-concluded IIM-Shillong placements for the 2010-2012 batch.
An overwhelming 38 per cent of the batch of 93 students opted for Marketing this year, compared with last year’s 20 per cent. Companies such as Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Pidilite, UB Group, and Godfrey Phillips were the ones that offered roles Sales & Marketing and Business Development.

EVEN THE newer additions to the IIM family are doing as well as their established peers in the placement process. At Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIM- K), as many 135 companies showed up for the interviews, compared with 108 last year, and 40 per cent of the jobs offered to the 317 students of the flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management came from the first- time recruiters.

THE annual placement process, which concluded not long ago at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Qutab Institutional Area, saw top companies making a beeline for the campus. IIFT Corporate Placement Adviser, Mr. MUNISH BHARGAVA, says that despite recessionary fears students at the institute had their platters full with more job offers than they could accept.
