The BITS Pilani Goa Campus at Zuarinagar reverberated to the beat of the best rock bands in the country at the institute’s annual national festival ‘Waves’ on Thursday and Friday.
After a meticulously conducte dinaugural ceremony, ‘Waves’ entered day one on Thursday with the first of the ‘Big Four’ events – group dance event ‘Natyanjali’. Indisputably, one of the most awaited events, ‘Natyanjali’ showcased a host of performances encompassing every form of dance conceivable, leaving the audience mesmerized.
After the eliminations in the morning, the finals were conducted in the evening with seven teams making it that far. At the end of the night, VNIT Nagpur finished as winners with MIT’s ( Manipal Institute of Technology) ‘Blitzkrieg’ being the runners-up. No college fest is truly complete without an electrifying DJ Nite, and Waves ’11 had none other than DJ Siddhath Talwar of Metallica fame for the day one special night. DJ Siddharth accompanied Metallica during its recent India tour.

Image: Natyanjali @ Waves 2011On Friday, a fashion parade ‘Vogue’ enriched with shocking outfits and make-up, based on the theme of gothic graveyard, propelled Jai Hind College, Mumbai on to the winner’s podium.
The night truly lived up to the festival theme of fusion with a performance by Carnatic rock band ‘Agam’. ‘Agam’ describes itself as a true BITSian band – all members having graduated from BITS Pilani, a fact that drew cheers from the audience. Mumbai-based ‘Something Relevant’ played jazz, which was appreciated by the crowd, and the band’s saxophonist solicited rave reviews.
