Student Professional Development conference, India 2012 at IIT Roorkee
Student Professional Development conference, India 2012, organized by American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is an annual student conference for the ASME students sections throughout the India. When giants like Boeing, involved in framing problem statement for you & when great prizes like trip to Dubai to exhibit your engineering skills are at stake, this is indeed the place to be!!
What is ASME & SPDC?
ASME is over a 130 year old organization that works for promotion of art, science and practice of multidisciplinary engineer. It has an outreach of 2 lac members all over the globe, with 10,000 members in India. SPDC is one of the most important events in the events calendar of ASME. There is a plethora of competitive events held at an elevated level for the professional development of students.
SPDC is a 2-tier event held first at the national level, then at the district (consisting of Singapore, India, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Pakistan) level. This year about 50 student sections from all over India shall come together to participate in SPDC India.
Every year ASME presents a number of competitions for students. The conference, to be held in IIT Roorkee from 4th-5th February, will serve as a national screening stage for such events like Student Design Competition, Old guard Oral Presentation, Technical Poster Presentation, CAD modelling, Web Page Designing Competition, & Rube Goldberg. It aims at providing a platform for technology transfer for undergraduate and graduate students through competitions that require engineering skills apart from an innovative mind-set.
The highlight of this event is Student Design Competition (Energy Relay Challenge) where the problem statement is given by none other than Boeing. Providing transportation energy is a major piece of the overall energy challenge, and is the focus of the 2012 Student Design Competition. Practicing engineers in transportation areas are developing a variety of technology options and looking to integrate these technologies. You must do the same for the competition. For details check http://files.asme.org/asmeorg/Events...test/28571.pdf . The winners of Student Design Competition & Oral Presentation will get to fly to Dubai for Student Professional Development Conference (SPDC) to represent India at Asia-Pacific level.
SPDC 2012 will also have Student Leadership Seminar (SLS). This seminar will be an interaction place for ASME Student Sections Officers and senior members of ASME from across the country. It will also serve as window to the world of ASME for masses. Those who want to be a part of ASME or want to get started with a student section in their own college will also find it interesting.
SPDC 2012 promises to be a truly amazing experience for young engineering minds….So what are you waiting for!!
