Applications for TNEA-2012 available from May 11
Applications for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2012) for entry into BE/B.Tech. courses under the Government Quota will be issued across the State from May 11 to May 31.
“The forms will be issued across 58 centres including the Anna University in Chennai from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm on all working days during the period,” Anna University Vice Chancellor P Mannar Jawahar told the Express on Saturday. The forms can also be downloaded online or obtained by post.
Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes can buy the application form by paying INR 250 (cash or Demand Draft) after producing a photocopy of their community certificate. Aspirants belonging to the Other Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Open Competition category will have to pay INR 500.
The Anna University is the nodal agency for conducting the single window counseling for TNEA.
“We have not finalized the schedule for the single window counseling but the counseling will be conducted only at the Anna University in Chennai for all students,” Jawahar said.
In Tamil Nadu, 50 per cent of the sanctioned seats in self-financing non-minority engineering colleges and 35 per cent of the total seats in private engineering colleges administered by minorities are earmarked as ‘Government Quota’ seats.
Admission to these seats is strictly done on the principle of “inter-se merit” by following a single window counseling system.
The remaining seats are treated as management quota seats and are filled up by the respective colleges without any counseling system. The Supreme Court mandated that even admission to the management quota must be on the basis of merit and should be monitored by an admissions committee.
