  • EAMCET 2012 all set to be taken by almost 3 lakh engineering aspirants in Andhra Pradesh

    EAMCET 2012 is all set to be conducted in 744 centres across Andhra-Pradesh on May 12. This year 3,88,463 applications have been received of which 95,490 are for medical stream and 2.92 lakh are for engineering.

    Students appearing for EAMCET will have to carry the filled-in online application form downloaded from the website along with the hall-ticket to the exam hall, failing which the results of the candidate would be withheld though they would be allowed to write the test. And in case of SC/ST students, if they fail to present the copy of caste certificate at the time of exam, they would be considered in general category.     Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, EAMCET-2012 convener NV Ramana Rao said surveillance and security measures were put in place to prevent malpractices. “Manual frisking, deployment of police personnel in mufti, closure of xerox and other shops near the exam centres and strict vigilance were some of the measures,” he said.

    All precautionary measures like installation of jammers at sensitive centers and all centers will be thoroughly checked with bomb squad teams and armed police personnel will be deployed at few centers, he said. “As many as 800 applications have been rejected this time owing to candidates’ ineligibility and wrong entry of information ,” he said.

    Ranking & Scoring Criteria in EAMCET-2012

    The candidates who have secured qualifying marks in EAMCET 2012 and candidates belonging to the category of Scheduled Caste and Schedule Tribe, for whom qualifying marks have not been prescribed, shall be assigned ranking in the order of merit on the basis of combined score obtained by giving 75% weightage to the marks secured in EAMCET 2012 and 25% weightage to the marks secured in the relevant group subjects namely Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry of the qualifying examination.

    For the preparation of merit list, in case of more than one student securing the same combined score obtained as mentioned above, the tie shall be resolved to decide the relative ranking by successively considering the following

    i) The total marks secured in EAMCET 2012
    ii) The Marks secured in mathematics in EAMCET 2012
    iii) The marks secured in Physics in EAMCET 2012
    iv) The Percentage of Aggregate marks secured in the qualifying examination
    v) If the tie still persists the date of birth of the concerned candidates, the older being given preference over the younger.

    The weightage of marks in the case of candidates belonging to the category of Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) / Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders, will be decided by a committee constituted by the competent authority.
