Pune gears up to surf internet on ULTRA hi speeds as Airtel rolls out its 4G LTE services
After Kolkata and Bengaluru, Pune has become the third city in India with the access to the 4G LTE services from Airtel. The Indian telecom giant, Airtel has announced today that it has launched its 4G LTE services in Pune. As of now, these services are available only to the postpaid customers.
Interestingly, Huawei and Airtel jointly rolled out India's first 4G smartphone, the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE earlier this week.
With the launch of 4G services in Pune, people would have the access to data transfers at ultra high speeds. Airtel has also said that it would launch the 4G services for prepaid customers soon.
Commenting on the occasion, K Srinivas, President of Consumer Business, Bharti Airtel said: "Today, we are excited to launch Maharashtra’s first 4G experience for Airtel customers in Pune. The response received by Airtel 4G services in Kolkata and Bengaluru has been compelling – thus reinforcing our long term focus on delivering technologies to fulfil the needs of India’s rapidly growing data evolution story.
With both home and office users opting for 4G services, it is heartening to see early adopters of this technology acknowledge the experience that Airtel 4G delivers – for everything from streaming videos and downloading music, to accessing business applications, email and rich multimedia content. Airtel has announced four postpaid plans for the 4G LTE services, Break free, Break free max, Break free ultra and Break free ultimate. The plans range from Rs. 999/month to Rs. 2999/month.
Additionally, Airtel also allows users to extend their data plans by 3GB for Rs.600, 5GB for Rs.875 and 10GB for Rs.1500.
The company has also rolled out a 4G enabled CPE Wi-Fi router and a LTE-Multi-mode Dongle priced at Rs. 5000.
Others than it's 4G services, Airtel has also announced three other services for the customers which include Games On-Demand, Airtel Broadband TV and Airtel Movies.
With the Airtel Broadband TV, customers would be able to view 76 channels and videos on-demand over the 4G network. This value added service is priced at Rs.150 and Rs. 49 for monthly and weekly packs respectively.
The other value added service, Games On-Demand lets the customers play various game titles from publishers such as Electronic Arts, UbiSoft,etc. There are host of plans on offer for this service which range from Rs.5/day for 30 games to Rs.199/month for 350 games.
The third service from Airtel, Airtel movies costs Rs.149/month and enables users to watch movies on-demand from their library which as of now, consists of 1250 movies.
It is to be noted that the 4G LTE network is just used for data services whereas voice calling is still done over the 2G or 3G networks.
Airtel is the only telecom operator to have rolled out it's 4G LTE services in India.
