IIT-D alumni association meets new HRD minister over JEE reforms
The IIT Delhi Alumni Association met the new HRD minister M M Pallam Raju yesterday to raise their concerns over the newly proposed pattern for the JEE.
The representatives from IIT-D Alumni Association seemed pretty please after the meeting and said the the minister had promised to look afresh into the matter.
Earlier, the association had requested an appointment with the new HRD minister over their concerns regarding the new exam pattern as they believed that it would dilute the 'brand' IIT.
After the meeting, a statement from the association said, "The honourable minister after hearing the delegation promised to visit afresh the issues concerning IIT including the controversial changes inducted in the JEE by his predecessor."
"He showed inclination to take actions which are in the interest of all the stakeholders of the IIT system. Without commenting, either way, on rolling back of the misdirected changes brought in JEE, he promised to give a patient hearing on the issues concerning IIT autonomy, including JEE", the statement added.
The new test pattern had been the center of issues since it's proposal and earlier this year in july, the IIT's had agreed to the new test pattern which also takes into account, the class XII board results of the students.
Whatever the decision comes out to be, the students taking the JEE 2013 would surely need to undergo the new, two test pattern.
But, the association in the meanwhile has set up the next meeting with the minister during the PanIIT conference in Kolkata from December 7-9.
