Ragam 2012 details: Ragam, the annual cultural fest of National Institute of Technology, Calicut, is the second largest of its kind in South India and is one of the most awaited fiesta in the state of Kerala.
Over the years, Ragam has transformed itself into a cultural gala with over 3000 participants from across the country slogging it out for the top honours. With a plethora of events under varied categories, Ragam has succeeded in leaving a lasting imprint on the cultural quotient of Kerala.
The Festival has played host to enthralling musical performances by such iconic names like Shankar Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Krishnakumar Kunnath (KK), Naresh Iyer, Shaan, Karthik, Benny Dayal, Balabhaskar, Parikrama, Silk Route, Motherjane, Higher on Maiden (A tribute band to Iron Maiden), Breathe The Floyd ( A tribute band to Pink Floyd from UK) and Junkyard Groove.
Ragam has seen many improvisations,gradually evolving itself into a cultural fest, that has captured the attention of many sponsors, and has succeeded in creating a name for itself in the corporate world. With Tata DoCoMo, Nokia, Fastrack, UOWD, SS Music, Asianet, Rosebowl, Radio Mango 91.9, Red FM 93.5 sponsoring the recent editions of Ragam, this cultural fiesta has become a hot spot for brand recognition and promotion.
The unique initiatives taken by Ragam over the years have gone beyond the cultural hemisphere. Ragam ’10 had successfully taken up the ‘Go Green’ campaign, in all the major districts of the state.
Moving a bit forward in the timeline, Ragam’ 11 was a resounding success.The inclusion of new events such as, ‘Mr and Ms Ragam’, ‘ Over acting’ and ‘Master Chef’ lent a fresh air to the sphere of competition. The stunning pro-shows, by India’s musical icon Sunidhi Chauhan, Junkyard Groove and the energetic Jai Ho team comprising of Stephen Devassy, Suvi Suresh, Blaaze and Vijay Prakash, the Bike stunts by DNA rods and major crowd pullers like the Haunted House and Slip Soccer, ensured that Ragam had created a niche for itself.
They say that 2012 marks the end of the world. Well,if that is so, we did like to go out with one tremendous bang. And, we will.
Yes. Ragam’s back and we predict that it will be even more electrifying than apocalypse.
