Strong analytical and literacy skills e.g. interpretation of PMO reporting output to determine and present headline (and, where required, detailed) information to management including senior stakeholders.
Effective in engaging with the bigger picture of an organisation e.g. to understand the way in which programmes and projects will support the strategic direction of the organisation and provide challenge where this is not the case.
Excellent presentation skills, recognizing the requirement for regular engagement with senior stakeholders in areas such as programme and project cost / benefit projections and key programme and project risks / mitigation measures.
Comprehensive understanding of project governance requirements including key project roles such as Project Sponsor and Accountable Executive.
Good working knowledge of MS Office including strong PowerPoint, Excel and Project skills, in order to e.g. extract, manipulate and report programme / project financial and narrative information.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to influence and drive change in a collaborative way, including providing a challenge to programme and project managers with regard to e.g. programme / project costs, benefits, risks and scope creep.
Manages time well to meet competing priorities and performs well under pressure, including reporting hot spots at month end and external reporting periods.
Evaluates alternative solutions and thinks creatively e.g. when reporting programme / project risks.
Attention to detail in the production of data packs for decision makers, whilst not losing sight of the 'big picture' and having consideration to the seniority / subject matter expertise of the target audience.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Provide Business Analysis support and co-ordination to the Business accounts.
Ensure that regular PMO reporting is delivered on a timely, accurate and complete basis.
Undertake responsibility for setting, implementing and managing policy for PMO.
Build the Programme/Project Assurance function once PMO is setup to ensure that standards are being adhered to.
Be a subject matter expert in the PMO field.
Embed new processes and best practice Project Management behaviours.
Facilitate and where necessary lead Management meetings and attend Steering Groups.
