The Builder Tools team at Amazon.com is currently seeking an innovative manager for a new team to create systems that improve engineer productivity and empower engineers reduce their operational load. Our team owns the software and systems that help Amazons development teams turn revolutionary ideas into code running on production servers. Our systems enable teams to model software, configure it, bundle it, ship it, operate it, remove it and roll it back when it doesn't work all with a focus on continuous automation and deployment.
This is an opportunity to be involved in creating and defining a mission for a new team inside Amazons India development centers. The team will design, develop and own systems with two primary goals; improve developer productivity and allow them to reduce operational load so they can focus on innovation. Amazons business is growing at a faster pace every day. Engineering teams around the company are growing as well. However, growth will only get us so far before we can no longer scale. At that point we need to become more efficient. This new team will make it possible for the company to accomplish its objectives by helping engineers be more productive and innovate faster.
Ideal candidates are passionate about optimizing the software development experience at a very large scale. They must be willing to think big and tackle large problems with big payoff. They must have an established background in delivering high-quality customer-facing solutions, strong technical skills, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. Our ideal candidate is a self-directed leader with proven software development experience and a blend of technology and business.
Responsibilities include hiring and developing a team of top-talent engineers, strategic planning, product definition, customer communication, project management for software within the team, and management of resources across teams
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
7+ years of relevant engineering experience
2+ years people management experience
Experience with OOD and object oriented languages
Deep hands-on technical expertise
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong business and technical vision
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
A deep understanding of software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time
Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
Education:(UG - B.Tech/B.E. - Any Specialization) AND (PG - MBA/PGDM - Any Specialization, M.Tech - Any Specialization) AND ( Doctorate - Any Doctorate - Any Specialization, Doctorate Not Required)
Experience years: 8 to 13 yrs.
