IIT-B students develop interactive cricket App for Android
Few students from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay i.e. IIT B, have come up with an innovative android application much to the interest of cricket lovers. This app will give alerts when a cricketer hits century or when a bowler is in good form.
Cricket fans need not worry when their favorite cricketers are not in action and when cricket season is missing. This new app by name CrickAlarm developed by students will enable the people to know the right time to get stick on to the televisions.
Among the students who participated in the development of this app, Mirik Gogri, told that they have got this idea of developing cricket app, when they are in laboratory and when there was a match going on between India and Sri Lanka. At that time, they thought that it would be better to have a mobile application which can give alerts about the match.
Best part of this cricket application developed by this team of students is that it can give customized solutions. Already CricAlarm has got more than thousand downloads.
This app has been released on Google Play Store on 25th September 2012 and just before the Super Eight Series of T20 World Cup 2012 Tournament. Students who have developed this application have told that this is the best application offered in Google Store, regarding any sports having such high level of personalization options. One can customize or personalize this application so that they can get updates of players and teams he or she follows. Alarms can be set on the CricAlarm to give notification whenever a particular favorite batsman reaches near nineties or hits a boundary or their favorite bowler takes a wicket. Even it is possible to set the alarm for strike rate and required run rate.
The team behind the development of CricAlarm is in plans to make this application available on Windows Market Place and in iTunes. Rich media and social integration are going to be included in the next update.
