WITH more than 400 visiting and 200 permanent faculty members who bring with them a wealth of experience and years of research, it is the exposure that IIPM offers to its students that makes it one of Delhi- NCR’S leading B- Schools.
Most of the senior faculty members are associated with Planman Consultancy, the consulting wing of the management institute, so they effectively bridge the worlds of academia and business. “ We prescribe more than 1,400 credit hours for classroom interactions during the two- year programme,” says Prasoon Majumdar, Dean of Academics, IIPM. “ We are also placing a lot of emphasis on innovation in online resource sharing and networking,” Majumdar adds. The institute, he informs, is also all set to make forays into other academic fields, including media studies, languages and IT. Says Debashish Bhattacharjee, IIPM Class of 1998 and Country Manager ( Storage), Fujitsu India: “ IIPM helped me acquire the basic understanding and skills necessary in my career.” Established in 1973 by educationist Malay Chaudhuri, IIPM today has 18 campuses and around 6,000 students on its rolls. IIPM programmes also enable students to gain additional certification from top institutions such as McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin; Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University; Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley; National University of Singapore; and Imperial College Business School, London.
Placements at IIPM
Talking about IIPM’s placements record, Majumdar says it has already placed 3,491 students in both domestic and international companies this year. The last recruitment process, which kicked off in September 2011, attracted leading players including FMCG, banking, IT/ ITeS, telecommunication- As the country grows, the demand for management graduates also keeps growing. The roster of companies that have visited the IIPM campuses include Citibank, Standard Chartered, HDFC Bank, Canon India, Ernst & Young, Indiabulls Investments, ICICI Group, Mahindra and Mahindra Group, Aditya Birla Group, Vodafone, iGate Technologies, Jet Airways, DLF Group and American Express. It couldn’t get any better.
“ The average annual salary package offered to the Class of 2012 increased by 20 per cent compared with last year’s level for its flagship MBA programme,” says Majumdar.
Dubai’s Al Mashriq LLC offered the highest international package this year and it was ` 18 lakh. “ As the country grows, the demand for management graduates also keeps growing,” says Majumdar. “ And that is why many international BSchools are entering into collaborations in India. The key to sustenance is world- class education in a world- class environment.” IIPM’s International MBA, which it offers with the International Management Institute, Belgium, is a sought- after programme.
Equally popular is its three- year, full- time undergraduate programme in Planning and Entrepreneurship. Each student enrolled in this programme has to specialise in marketing and concentrate additionally on either Finance or HR. Another of the programme highlights is the emphasis on super specialisation.
Students have to opt for one of these disciplines: International Marketing; Entrepreneurship; Leadership and Strategy; and Wealth Management. IIPM’s offerings include a compulsory course in Executive Communications, which promises to make visible personality changes in students. Another notable course is Global Opportunities and Threats Analysis, which requires students to visit a leading US and European institution for an on- campus Certificate Programme in Global Management, followed by exposure to companies in the country were the academic institution is located.
