Power From Artificial Tornado via Atmospheric Vortex Engine
Engineers, today have gained an unanimous outlook. The obsessed minds wish to produce power from anything that is in a natural state of motion. Electrical engineer, Louis Michaud set his eyes on generating electricity from the power of the man-made tornado. The atmospheric vortex engine (AVE) will aim to extract energy from the controlled vortex has the heat is carried upwards by convection. An artificial tornado can be produced by introducing warm or humid air in a circular arena. The tangential entry of the air produces a vortex which can then be used to produce power. Michaud says that the diameter of the power plant could be 200 meters and it can produce ~ 200 MW power at the cost of $0.03/kWh. The project has received ~$300k from PayPal co-founder and early Facebook investor Peter Thiel.
