Wireless Charging Feature In its Cars, Toyota's Future Plans
Engineer's at Toyota have taken into consideration the batteries consumed by Smartphones. they always seem to run out of batteries and that leaves us scrambling for charging ports. Although this problem has been solved by the concept of wireless charging but that requires you to carry the charging mat with you at all times. So while you are in your car Toyota wants to offer you a hassle free wireless charging experience. In the next year the Japanese automobile giant plans to introduce wireless charging in its Avalon sedan by using a charging standard called as Qi (pronounced “chee”). In 2008, the Wireless Power Consortium agreed on this open standard for wireless charging.
The Avalon’s wireless charging pad is integrated into the ebin® lid situated in vehicle’s center console.
The wireless charging feature will be available as part of the company’s “technology package” at a cost of $1950. The Qi wireless charging standard is supported by LG Google Nexus 4, Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC Windows Phone 8X and other 31 mobile phones. But of your mobile phone supports wireless charging but is not Qi charging enabled do not worry, there is an add-on system for you.
