Lets start a thread where we FaaDoOs can ask queries about Bengal Engineering & Science University Shibpur....But before let me being with a short info about the college....:crigon_04::crigon_04:

College History
From the BISHOP'S COLLEGE in the British Raj to Bengal Engineering College in Independent INDIA and then to the status of a Deemed University and finally to a State University has been a long journey.

Established in 24th November 1856 occupying three rooms in Writers' Building to meet the requirement of trained Engg. personel for Public Works Department as Civil Engineering College ,was affiliated to the Calcutta University in May 1857 .

From 1865 to 1879 the College functioned as Civil Engineering Department of Presidency College. In 1880 the college shifted to it's new and permanent home the lush campus at Bishop's College, Howrah. It got its name, Bengal Engineering College in 1921.

Guys placement faculty in besu is not good as in other in other nit's, in fact placement wise it does not even come in top 100 colleges.It is quite evident of itself as you will never find a placement chart anywhere if you google.
It is however top 50% of the class who receives avg placement.

many remain unplaced.
also it has to be mentioned the highest paying company of besu is CIL (coal indial ltd) (A company which is no good for engg students other than mining), companies like BHEL,ntpc,pgcil,nhpc,ongc, and other central psu never visit
BESU.(though it is written in history of placement in besu HRM site that great companies like ABB,AREVA,GE,shnider and psu used to visit the cumpus may be 50 yrs ago but not anymore though they continue placement in other nits and also JU)
also if You notice care fully the above list includes some companies like VIRAJ PROFILES LTD,GONTERMAN PIEPERS,balaji etc does not pays even 15000 monthly in plces like mumbai.
As you know placement department controls every placement they are reqd to be communicative and helpful but it is not in the case of besu.
Though in BESU student quality never suffers and also the study environment (in which it must be among top ten colleges in india ).Every yr many besu students ranks in gate exam among top 100 even received 1st rank many times.


I wrote this one for students who wants to decide which college is better during wbjee admission.
Note :if u have wish to do further higher studies in engg the best place can be BESU, but if you want to get better placement after b.tech or want to do mba go for NITs and JU.
