my home state is gujarat. I have got aieee 2011

State rank - 480

i am in general category (OP)

can i get CS, mechanical? particularly CS. which way can i get CS? which round? should i take risk upto 5th round as svnit website data on closing rank in aieee 2010 for CS in homestate in SR 506..

what abt mechanical? what probability of it and also of CS? i am concerned.

Looking at last years trend of admissions, you have a good chance of getting both CS & Mech but only in the 5th round. Admission to mech can be a little dicey, as last year Mech closed at around 22k for home state candidates while CS closed around 26k for HS Candidates...

are you interested in other branches??? Coz we have pretty good Civil & Electrical deptts as well...

The thing is i want to have CS from NIT. although i also have bright chances in DAIICT but i prefer NIT. Also i have known CS is not such great at dept. in SVNIT and u need study urself, but that gives me space to do what i want to do, that is why i want to take CS.

Is it worth waiting and taking risk till 5 th round. what if i dont get it in 5th round and then i still i want SVNIT (after that any branch like civil, which i suppose goes low rank wise in filling)

@aprilsagar : AI ranks give a more holistic picture....though state ranks give more accurate forecasting.....For the record, CS closed at 508 state rank in the 5th round last yr...and therefore u have a pretty good chance to get in...else go for a lower branch and then in the 6th or 7th round opt for branch sliding...i m sure u ll get CS!

Civil closed at 636 and Elec at 554 in 5th round....u shud get these easily! Dont worry...u ll finally end up in CS in SVNIT!

yes, u ll get it.....by the third or fourth round....last rank admitted last yr was 403 in 5th round....

Placements of ECE & CS are better.....in terms of average....but Mech companies that come here are awesome too...and faculty for Mech is best....infra too is awesome!!

I wud say ECE and MEch are two of the best dept...CS is not that gr8...

About the fees, well that only the administration knows...
