Inflatable dams, also called rubber dams, are flexible cylindrical inflatable and de floatable structures attached to a rigid base at either one or two ends(single or double anchor), made of rubberized material and inflated by air, water, or a combination of the two. Rubber dams have been installed in different parts of the world for various purposes such as irrigation, flood control, tidal defense, water supply and recreation. Pdf 32 Introduction of nutrient cycle in environmental engineering free pdf download

Nutrient cycles involve storage and transfer of nutrients through different components of the ecosystem, so that the nutrients are repeadly used. The cyclic movements of chemical elements of the biosphere between the organisms and environment are referred as “BIO GEOCHEMICAL CYCLES.The cycles of chemical components in an ecosystem are best known as nutrient cycles. When there is no loss to the ecosystem the cycle is said to be a 'perfect cycle' and if loss does occur the cycle is said to be 'imperfect'. The decomposers play an important role in these cycles because they break down dead organisms and make the nutrient components available once more to other organisms.
