About St.JEC:

St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) is an engineering college in Vamanjoor, Mangalore, India. Being a unit of the Catholic Diocese of Mangalore, it is the only Catholic engineering institute in Karnataka. SJEC is affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technological University in Belgaum and approved by the AICTE, New Delhi and Karnataka State Government.
Established in 2002, it offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering, Masters in Business Administration and Masters in Computer Application. The college was inaugurated on the 19th of March 2003, on the feast of the Patron St. Joseph, by Cardinal Ivan Dias of Mumbai and presided over by Dr. Ignatius Pinto, Archbishop of Bangalore.

Admission Procedure:-

All the Undergraduate courses are of 4 years (8 Semesters) duration.

The admission is through Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Department for Technical Education in Karnataka. However, there are a few seats available with the management.
Entrance Test:- COMEDK / K-CET
For Karnataka CET students: Rs. 33,680/-
For UGET (COMEDK) students: Rs. 1.28L per year

Welcome to the Central Library which is one of the central support services of SJEC. The vision of the Central Library is to become a superb centre of stored knowledge resource for education, teaching and research. The central library with its beautiful ambience serves more than 2200 users and occupies a total area of 18000 sq.ft. with seating capacity of nearly 415 users at a time.

The Central Library has kept pace with emerging challenges over a decade of its existence and has emerged as one of the best technical libraries in the region. The Central Library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of books, e-books, journals (print/online), audio video cassettes, CD/DVD ROMS, standards, theses and reports etc.


Separate hostels for boys and girls are located in the campus which provides the students with a quiet and pleasant environment congenial to studies.

Well-lighted and well-ventilated rooms are provided to the students.

Rooms are available as single seater and double seaters.

Each student is provided with a cot, cupboard, study table and chair.

There is a warden and a staff in-charge for each hostel who look after the discipline and well-being of the hostel inmates. All amenities such as canteen, fax, phone, e-mail, banking and postal services are available in the vicinity. Medical facilities are provided by a competent visiting doctor and a dispensary. When further assistance is required, cases are referred to Fathers Muller's Medical College Hospital run by the Diocese of Mangalore.

Boys and girls hostels have separate mess facility.

Other facilities

College Bus: A fleet of seven buses ply on Surathkal, Moodabidri, and Mangalore city routes in the morning and evening.
Canteen: Wholesome, hygienic and tasty food at reasonable prices. The canteen at St. Joseph Engineering College is known for its student friendly environment. It provides a wide variety of delicacies to cater the tastes of each individual. There are separate sections for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. At a time, nearly 250 students can be accommodated there.
The salary offered by IT companies ranged from Rs. 2.2 lakhs to Rs. 6.5 lakhs per annum during the year 2011-12.
