About AIT:


Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (Dr. AIT) is an Autonomous engineering college located on Outer Ring Road, Nagarbhavi, Bangalore, India. Founded by M.H. Jayprakash Narayan in 1979, and named after Dr B. R. Ambedkar, the institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum and is accredited by AICTE. The institute offers both graduate and postgraduate courses. The institute has been granted academic autonomy, which means the institute can frame its own syllabus and conduct its own examinations.

Admission Procedure:-


Admissions are conducted through written entrance test KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) or COMEDK (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka) conducted every year by various test agencies.

Entrance Test
:- COMEDK / K-CET
Fee structure (per semester): Rs 125,000 p.a.

Infrastructure:

The department is headed by Dr. B.V Sumangala, Ph.D (IISc). The department has qualified and dedicated teaching and technical staff. Dr. Sumangala has a teaching experience of 26 years and is also the Dean (academic) of Dr. AIT taking care of all academic activities for both VTU as well as Autonomy. She is actively involved in the research activities. She is guiding 4 research scholars working for Ph.D. She is the principal coordinator for the following projects


1) Surge Phenomenon in Transformers

2) Development of Vegetable oil as Liquid Di-electric

3) High voltage testing and insulation diagnostics.

The department is recognized as a research Centre and is accredited by the NBA, New Delhi.

The department has a state of art research facility, established in the year 2008 that not only caters to the academic needs of students but helps in the research activities of faculty members to attain their doctorate. It is a honour to announce that every faculty member in the department is associated with at least 3 esteemed professional bodies namely Institute of Engineers, Indian society for Electrical & Electronics Engineers, Vignana Parishad of India, Solar Energy Society of India etc. The department received a generous Grant from DST to the tune of Rs.20 lakh in the year 2011. from the Govt. of Karnataka under the K-FIST Scheme as a fund for improvement in Science and Technology Infrastructure to aid the growing needs of higher education and for the development of PG laboratory. The core competencies of the faculty and apparatus facilities of the research centre are ultra modern and lend credence to the concept of synergy

Library

To commemorate the birth centenary year of Dr B. R. Ambedkar, the library building is named as Dr Ambedkar Centenary Bhavan. It occupies an area of 1298 sq.mtrs. Includes three floors. There are five divisions in the library they are Lending, Reference, Periodical, Digital & PG Library. It has collection of 69614 volumes & 17577 titles covering all disciplines in UG & PG courses.

Digital Library

Very good digital library is available in the 1st floor of the Library. The Digital library membership with INDEST-AICTE through which it can access to IEEE, ASCE and ASME journals. Apart from this, additional membership with DELNET and British Library.

Hostel

  • Both south and north Indian food.
  • All floors have RO drinking water connection.
  • 24 Hour Solar hot water supply.
  • A separate TV room, reading room and recreation room.
  • 10MBPS Internet facility.
  • Uninterrupted power supply during power cuts through a separate generator.
  • Parking facility for more than 100 vehicles.
  • 24 hrs security through a private agency.
The Girl's hostel is situated within the campus. There are 48 rooms with common dining hall, TV hall, Gym hall and visitors room. The hostel students are provided with student friendly menu. It has 24 hours security with CCTV camera installed within the hostel. The hostel has been provided with gas geysers and solar water heater for the continual supply of hot water.

Placements:

Two mass recruiters, TCS and HCL, make sure you get placed as long as you’re eligible (which generally requires a 60% average and no current back logs). Highest salary goes to around Rs. 5 or 6 lakhs a year but not more.
