CENTAC is a short form of Centralized Admission Committee Admission Test. It is an entrance test which is going to be set by the Government of Pondicherry for getting admission in several Engineering and Medical programmes like BPT, B.Sc. (Nursing), B.Sc, (MLT), B.Tech, B. Pharm. and Degree programmes offered in Government as well as Private Colleges and Universities by the Government Societies.
Degree courses offered by the Colleges run by the societies of the Government and seats offered by Other States and done by the Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC), Government of Puducherry .Admission to the “Government Quota Seats” in Private and Unaided Professional colleges, including the minority Colleges, will be as per the law/ regulation /order of Government of India, or of the Government of Puducherry , on the subject.
The details regarding the Colleges and the number of seats will be made available at the time of counseling. Admission to the above degree courses is based on the performance of the candidates in the Higher Secondary or equivalent board examination there to. The procedure for seeking admission to the stipulated courses in the various Institutions consists of: (i) Submission of admission applications to CENTAC or to the designated authorities, as t he case ma y be, and (ii ) Attending the counseling for the said course at the notified date, time and place.
The question paper of CENTAC consists of three papers of two hours duration each. All questions will be of objective type only. Paper-I: Mathematics:60 Questions Paper-II: Physical Sciences:80 Questions(Physics 40 + Chemistry 40), Paper-III: Biology : 100 Questions (Botany 50 + Zoology 50).
All the three papers conducted are of two hours duration and consists of objective type of questions.
Candidates willing to take admission to CENTAC B.Tech course will have to appear for examination on Paper I and Paper II.
For other courses students will have to appear for tests in Paper II and Paper III.
Candidates seeking admission to the B.Pharm courses will have to sit for Paper II, which is compulsory.
Students must pass the Class 12th with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects.
Students those are waiting for the final year results are also eligible to apply for the test.
Students must gain minimum 55% marks in the qualifying examination.
Students those are the permanent residence of Pondicherry are only eligible to apply for the test.
