A public institute established by the Indian Government, located in Guwahati, in Assam. It was established as the sixth Indian Institute of Technology in India. It was established in 1985, when Assam Accord was signed between the All Assam Students Union and the Government of India. The campus is spread on a 700 acres land in the city.

National Institute of Technology, Silchar

NIT Silchar is one of the 31 NITs of India and was first established in 1967 as a Regional Engineering College in Assam. Then in 2002, it was upgraded to the status of National Institute of Technology and was declared as Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. NIT Silchar is offering undergraduate and graduate programs in Engineering, Science and Humanities with eleven departments.

A Central University located in Tezpur in Assam. It was established, by an Act of Parliament, in 1994. The university campus is at Napaam which is about 15 km east of Tezpur. The Napaam campus of the is in a plot of an area of 262 acres. The school offers courses in engineering and technology. It's a university in the Indian state of Assam, It was set up in 1965 under the provisions of the Dibrugarh University Act, 1965, enacted by the Assam Legislative Assembly. It is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, with a B grade in 2002 and re-accredited in 2009. Established in 1955, Assam Engineering College is located in Guwahati. It is also famous as first undergraduate engineering college in northeastern India. It's a public college run by state of Assam. It is the second Government Engineering College of Assam in northeast India. It was established in 1960 by the government of Assam. The institute is affiliated with Dibrugarh University and is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education.
