BSNL Night Unlimited Broadband Plan - Here is how you can automate downloading and Sleep Happy! BSNL has a very cool night unlimited hi-speed broadband plan. But the timings are insane, usually 2 am to 8 am!
Here i am going to teach each one of you FaaDoOs HOW TO AUTOMATE THE PROCESS OF DOWNLOADING, SO THAT YOU CAN SLEEP HAPPY!
Note: This method only works, if you don't completely power off your system, that is don't switch off the Computers. Also, i assume that you have kept your modem on and you never disable the LAN.
Instead of using third party softwares for automatic dial up, we will create a batch file for dialing up the connection
Step 1: How to Dial up the broadband connection
1) Open up notepad, paste "rasdial <connection name> <Username> <password>"
eg. rasdial BSNL broadband bsnluser bsnlpass
this is the format... i mean without "" and <>
connection name is the name u see on the dialer...
now, save the file as "dialup.bat" in a new folder (eg. c:/dataone_sched)
just to make sure u don't overwrite something
2) Make another file named "disconnect.bat" and type in it "rasdial /disconnect" (there is a space between rasdial and /disconnect and no "" ) and save it in that directory as the first file.
3) Go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tool>Scheduled Tasks
when opened click on "Add scheduled task" click next (it will hang for a moment or two!!) then a list of programs will be displayed. Click on browse and point to the dialup.bat file. Then set the schedule by following the on-screen instructions.
Do the same for disconnect.. Make sure you give the time values correctly (ie. in my case 2:10AM to 7:50AM (the BSNL clock is 2 mins behind!)
Step 2: Configuring your torrent client
This section explains how to configure torrent clients for automatic startup & downloading. It uses a windows utility called as 'Task Scheduler'
To open it,
Go to Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Scheduled Tasks
a) Click Add a new task.
b)A windows will appear. Select Next
c)Select your torrent client from the list or click browse & then click next.
d) Select the option of daily"Daily" and click next.
e) In the start time column, fill in 2:10:00 AM and select Everyday and click Next.
f) There will be fields for username & password. The username field would have been filled automatically. If not, then enter the username you use to log on to your PC. In the password section, enter your password, if you use one. If not, leave them blank and click next.
Note: If u dont give a correct password or no password, then it will give you an error. so use correct password same goes for no password case, you have to use password for the current user.
g)When the task is created, right click the task and select Properties.
If u have not entered the password or have got an error when adding the task, select 'Run only if logged on'.
For configuring the client settings, ( Here is an example of Bitcomet)
a) Click Preferences-> Go To appearance and check the options of 'Auto -resume tasks on startup'.
This ensures that whenever the client starts, it will automatically start downloading the tasks.
Imp: Whenever closing the client, ensure that you don't stop the tasks or else the next time, they won't start automatically.
Some users may be using DAP or IDM as their download managers. For them,
1. Start Download Accelerator Plus->Go to Tools Menu->Options.
2. In General, check "Launch DAP on startup".
3. Select Scheduler and check "Start Scheduler at" and select Daily and enter start time as 2:10:00 A.M. and also check "Stop Scheduler at" and enter values as 7:50:00 A.M.
You may also want to shut down the pc. For that check the options...
'Hang up Modem', 'Quit Download Accelerator' and 'Shutdown computer'.
Click close.
Happy Downloading and a have a Sound Sleep from now on!

Hey, Is it applicable on wireless data card (HUAWEI) with docomo sim or airtel sim? (since it is also a kind of dial up connection, but wireless)??
