Basically charge is an abstract property of any matter and it is unseparable from it, further on that's a different thing that we can change it in many forms...
When some kind of internal and external force applied on that matter with which charge is associated , charge starts moving ...(this is just like parents forcing their children(charge)to go school ).
Now come to your thing ........
When this charge flows it flows on the surface of matter and creates a perpendicular acting field around them which attracts certain metals. (just like girls create a field around them in which boys are attracted ).
This field is a kind of property generated due to the wave nature of those charges(charges or matter also have dual nature just like light.....remember this thing......)
