With the globalization of the market, competitiveness in industries has increased tremendously. The VISION Statement of the Institute is: Accomplishing excellence in the technical education and act as repository and leader for disseminating state-of-the art knowledge and expertise in the field of Materials Technology and other relevant / emerging branches of Engineering and Technology concomitant with industrial growth of the nation; at the same time maintaining and further strengthening its position as a leader in the areas of Foundry Technology and Forge Technology.

Central library: The Institute has a well-equipped Library-Cum-Documentation Centre in a newly-housed four storeyed building, possessing more than  30,000 books on various subjects of interest for teaching and research. The centre subscribes over 150 technical and research journals and has an up to date stock of standards both Indian and foreign, films, slides, microfilms, microfiches etc. It provides photocopying facilities on a limited scale on payment basis.
