Placements

Placements :  The current situation in the job market for engineering and management graduates depicts a strange phenomenon. While on one hand there are a large number of jobs for engineers as well as for managers adequate numbers of suitable engineers/managers who can meet the job requirements are not available. The ratio of engineers and managers passing out from Management / Engineering Colleges and those who are actually employable is 10 is to 3.This situation has emerged primarily due to two factors: A very large number of engineering/management colleges have come up especially in Haryana. Consequently the stock of students who join these colleges is not up to the mark The university curriculum and pedagogy does not take into account the prevailing technologies, work culture and job requirement in the industries.

Most of the teaching is oriented towards enhancement of knowledge. On the other hand more than 90% of the job requirement for the fresh engineering / management graduate is based on skills and attitudes. Most colleges lack a working, efficient interface with the industry/ corporate organizations. In fact where ever some tie ups are made these are more to attract students for admission. No serious efforts are made to ensure that the students are equipped with the latest skills and knowledge.
