  • XLRI - Jamshedpur launches a new programme to sharpen your business acumen

    Getting an additional degree in management while you work is often a sure shot way to climb the professional ladder, as it enhances your prospects for higher remuneration and better job opportunities.

    XLRI School of Business and Human Relations, Jamshedpur now offers a program that provides an opportunity to professionals hone their business acumen and brighten their future.

    Titled Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Management, the fulltime, 15 Months residential MBA programme is offered to aspirants with more than five years of work experience in a managerial capacity. The course promises to impart a broad outlook in candidates by encouraging them to think beyond the immediate confines of a job and to come- up with out- of- the- box solutions to problems and challenges they confront in their day to day environment.

    “This course offers best of both the worlds” said Pranabesh Ray, Dean, Academics. Being 15- month programme candidates can complete their studies within a short duration. Improved career prospects for students at the end of the programme are also quite bright he said.

    The management programme comprises professionals from various industries including doctors, engineers, chartered accountants, bank managers, and entrepreneurs.

    The motley group of students are thus able to benefit from each other and also gain a unique perspective of today's business dynamics. The programme admits a total of 120 students. Admissions are held on the basis of professional experience, academic record, GMAT/ XAT scores, essays and personal interviews.

    This AICTE approved program includes four terms, each one lasting 12 to 13 weeks and every term ends with an exam. The first half of the programme is built around 15 core modules, which provides students with an understanding of some of the key management disciplines, such as finance, accounting, marketing, operations, strategy, leadership, corporate citizenship and business ethics.

    Candidates however, will have the option of customizing the second half of the programme allowing them to choose up to 12 different electives that support their career and learning objectives.

    XLRI offers a total of 34 electives for the candidates to choose from, ensuring that students will never run out of an option.

    “The course has been designed a distinct way and has different modules. The students who are enrolled have at least five years of prior work experience. The wealth of experience brings in an altogether different approach to teaching and interaction,” said Ray. “The entire course curriculum has been designed keeping in mind the needs of an experienced professionals and not freshers” said Ray.

    “Students also exposed to special programmes such as village exposure, adventure training and ethics inculcation” said Ray. Candidates applying for the programme must hold a minimum of three years Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university in any discipline, and should be employed in a full time job with relevant managerial experience in any public, private, government or non government organization. The tuition fee for the programme is around 14,50,000.

    The XLRI executive programme requires candidates to have a minimum of five years of managerial experience
