MDI Brings Diversity With Summer Univ
IT IS a concept popular in European universities and now students in India too can be a part of it.
Management Development Institute ( MDI), Gurgaon's International Summer University ( ISU) program which started in July last year is more than just a crash course in management.
The eight- week program features courses that are relevant to MBA students anywhere in the world be it India or Denmark. The courses include International Human Resources Management, International Financial Management, International Negotiation and Cross Cultural Management.
According to Mukul P. Gupta, director of MDI, the ISU program is an initiative to reach out to students from different states of the country and give them a learning platform to acquire knowledge and skills in specialized areas of management.
Mobility, travel and learning from different sets of people are the essential advantages of the program, said Gupta.
Participating students will gain credit from their a respective universities for their study period at MDI, he said. The credit earned by a visiting student at MDI will become part of their final MBA mark- sheet.
The summer university program is restricted to MDIs 51 international and nine Indian partners.
Only international faculty members will teach the students. For the first batch we had faculty members and students from our partner institutions in the UK, Denmark, France and the US," said Gupta.
According to him, MDI is open to tie- ups with NIIT and state universities. The University of Kashmir was one of the first to sign an agreement with MDI for its ISU program. The latest to join the program is Malaviya National Institute of Technology ( MNIT), Jaipur.
As part of the agreement, up to four students will be nominated by MNIT Jaipur for the second batch of MDI- ISU scheduled from April to May 2014.
The credit earned by a visiting student at MDI in the summer program will become a part of their final MBA mark- sheet
