Microsoft Free Office Online: Edit your Documents Online in Dropbox

Finally Microsoft and Dropbox team announced new integration which will allow the users to view, edit and save their Dropbox documents using Microsoft Free online office. With this you can now edit your documents like Microsoft Office files, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents in Dropbox online using Office Online.
This means that you will not need any Microsoft office desktop application or a computer where the application is installed so as to edit the document. The privilege is given to the users to edit their files irrespective of the device they used whether it is someone’s or shared or borrowed device.

To user the feature one will need to click the open button “open” button which appears on the file while viewing online then you’ll have the option to edit the file from your web browser using Office Online. There is no other requirement for using the free online office feature but creating a free Microsoft Account.
The service is now available for those customers who have an office 365 license as well as Dropbox Basics and Pro Users. The customers who are on the free tier of Office Online can also use the new feature.

The company is also offering another feature in addition to the above that is to save new files in the Dropbox without leaving the office online.
Office Online users need to add their Dropbox accounts to Office Online to take advantage of the integration, according to Microsoft's announcement.
