  • Good news for hardcore gamers: Mass Effect 3 Earth DLC to launch on July 17

BioWare, the developers of Mass Effect series, have confirmed that the Mass Effect 3 Earth DLC will be available on July 17th for Xbox 360 and PC worldwide. For PlayStation 3 owners the pack will be available on July 17th in North American and July 18th in Europe. The DLC will be available to gamers free of cost.

The new Mass Effect 3 DLC is expected to bring with it new mods, gear and familiar maps of Rio, Vancouver, and London.

Gamers will have access to new weapons as well, the likes of which will include a Piranha assault shotgun, an Acolyte pistol, and a Typhoon assault rifle. Mass Effect 3: Earth also includes the new Platinum difficulty mode.

BioWare has also said that six new human N7 classes will make their way into the DLC. Each class comes with its own new abilities and melee attacks. The classes are: Destroyer Soldier, Paladin Sentinel, Demolisher Engineer, Slayer Vanguard, Shadow Infiltrator, and Fury Adept. Details of the classes are as follows:

Fury: "Fury operatives use implants to fuel biotics and their incredible movement speed. These operatives wind an unpredictable path on the battlefield, moving in and out of combat before returning to unleash a sweeping biotic attack on their unsuspecting targets."

Destroyer: "The Destroyer's T5-V Battlesuit gives these strong-but-slow soldiers mech-like protection. Driven by eezo-assisted actuators, these frontline troopers carry heavy weapons onto the battlefield."

Demolisher: "The Demolisher uses grenades to attack at range and to terrorize the battlefield. Demolishers can also create a supply pylon that stocks allies with an unending reserve of grenades and thermal reloads."

Paladin: "The Paladin carries a powerful Omni-shield onto the battlefield to block enemy fire. The Paladin also uses the shield as a heavy-melee weapon that, when modified with incendiary or cryo upgrades, creates a devastating combination attack."

Shadow: "Shadow infiltrators use implants to dramatically improve agility, making them slippery combatants on the battlefield. Their monomolecular blades are a menace from cover and close range."

Slayer: "Slayers use implants to dramatically improve mobility. Their dizzying sword attacks can hit multiple opponents, and the Slayer's ability to slip fire makes them hard to pin down on the battlefield."

    The pack includes:
Three New Maps – With the fate of the galaxy at stake, Earth’s military efforts have concentrated on three strategic locations. Defend Firebase Rio, home to the N7 training facility, along with Firebase Vancouver and Firebase London in the last stand for mankind.
