Play Station 3 loses some fat as Sony launches the Super Slim PS3!
The Japanese electronics giant, Sony announced earlier this month that they would be launching a super slim version of their gaming console, the play station 3. On September 25th, Sony unwrapped the new version of the console bringing a huge grin on the faces of gamers all around the world.
The super slim version is 20 percent smaller and 25 percent lighter than the current slim version of the PS3 , while it's 50 percent smaller than the original version of the gaming console.
Currently, it is available in the US in 2 configurations, 250 GB and 500 GB. As of now, it is available a bundled configuration only. The 250 GB bundle includes Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Game of the Year Edition while the 500GB bundle includes a copy of Assassin’s Creed III.
Sony also announced that it will launch a Europe only version that comes with 12 GB of Flash memory, along with the 500GB version. The latter being bundled with FIFA 13 and a month of free Play Station Plus subscription.
“The new PS3 continues with the characteristic sleek curved body design, which fits various places in the home and enables users to enjoy an array of entertainment content” says Sony.
Surprisingly, rather than going for a price cut, Sony has decided to hike the price of the new version by $20 in the United States. The new Super Slim PS3 costs $270 (INR14,230) and $299 (INR 15,760) for the 250 GB and 500 GB versions respectively.
Though no official statement has been received from Sony for it's launch in India, but we expect the Super Slim version to hit the Indian shores soon.
