Samsung to unwrap the Galaxy S3 Mini on October 11
It's official, the smaller version of Samsung Galaxy S3, the Galaxy S3 "mini" will be unveiled by Samsung at an event in Germany on October 11.
The head of Samsung Mobile Communication, J K shin said that the company is all set to launch a 4-inch version of it's flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3.
While talking to the Korean press, J K Shin said, "We'll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III on the 11th in Germany. There's a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it mini,”
Interestingly, a lot of buzz was generated all over the inernet, when Samsung began to send out invites for the event in Germany. The invite mentioned phrases like “something small will be really big” and “get ready for a little sensation”.
According to Shin, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini won't be an entry-level or mid-range device but, it would be premium device just as the Galaxy S3. The only difference would be the screen size, that will be 4-inch, lower than the 4.8-inch of the S3.
If that turns out to be true, Samsung will surely pitch the Galaxy S3 Mini as a direct competitor to the iPhone 5. Usually, the smaller Android phones run low on specifications and thus, they've never posed a real threat to the iPhone. But, with Samsung announcing the Galaxy S3 mini, the iPhone 5 faces some serious competition.
The Galaxy S3 mini is expected to run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean straight out of the box.
Nothing has been said about the pricing as of now, guess we'll just have to wait till tomorrow to find out !
