Jane Knight The Observer,Sunday 17 June 2001Travel companies are offering alternative holiday options to tourists with bookings for the Philippines following tougher Foreign Office advice against visiting parts of the South-east Asian destination. Specialist tour operator Hayes & Jarvis also said it had suspended bookings there as a 'precautionary measure' for the next three months. The move follows updated advice last week,Timberland Hombres Sandalias, with the strongest warning against all travel to southern and western Mindanao. Meanwhile, the slightly less forceful warning against all holiday and other non-essential travel to other parts of Mindanao and the island of Palawan was given. The Foreign Office also said tourists should be aware of the heightened threat of kidnapping in Manila. The advice follows the kidnapping from a diving resort of 20 people at the end of May by a separatist group, which claims it has beheaded a hostage. Both Hayes & Jarvis and Elegant Resorts said travellers would be given the option of changing their holiday plans at no cost. Meanwhile, Trailfinders,Abercrombie Hombres Chaquetas, which carries about 3,Timberland Hombres 6-Inch Botas,000 tourists a year to the Philippines,Abercrombie and Fitch Camisas, said it would only make the change at no cost if it was able to do so itself. And British Airways Holidays said that,Timberland Hombres Custom Botas, while it was offering refunds to those booked to Palawan,Botas UGG Paisley, that offer did not extend to those booked to go to the islands of Cebu and Boracay, which it continued to sell. Association of British Travel Agents spokesman Keith Betton said: 'People should talk to their tour operators about this.'
