The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT-G), launched its third annual Leadership Conclave on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. The conclave is geared towards the theme of leadership in institutions. As per a top official, participants contributed and deliberated over how an institution can have a leadership role in the next five years. Leading officials from various academic circles and industrialists from all over the world advised the institute on the subject of leadership. They also helped IIT formulate strategies to develop the same. The conclave looked into any agendas, at the national level, related to leadership and governance in the next five years in selected fields and platforms that offer good opportunities. The participants contributed to this endeavor by suggesting various measures the university can undertake in order to assume a leading role in different fields, based on its current performance. The conclave played host to prominent participants from the US like Professor Pratim Biswas from Chairman of the Department of Energy, Washington University professors Stanley and Lucy Lopata and Prof Nitesh Chawla, Director Interdisciplinary Centre for Network Science and Applications (iCeNSA) University of Notre Dame, USA. The 2nd Academic Advisory Council was held before the commencement of the Conclave. During the meeting, academicians and industrialists jointly advised the institute on the means to achieve the peak of academic excellence. The Council also discussed the matter of the core values of an institute, improving research efforts and providing mentorship to young faculty members and support for the leaders of the institute.
