Factory Training: Though attachment to a factory for a specified periodic not a precondition for an Engineering Degree here, adequate arrangements are made for intensive factory visits and vocational training at the factories. As the graduate programme is completed the students are recommended to various firms and establishments who want qualified young people for their organizations.

Soft Skills: Computer Training

Employment Bureau: The Government has established an Employment Bureau on the campus. It helps in registering the students' names for employment, thus avoiding long queues at the Employment Exchange.

Officer of Placement and Training: An officer, well informed regarding employment market and in constant touch with the employers is there to guide and assist. No doubt his job is easier for Engineering Graduates than those of Arts and Science Faculties. About 100 companies come each year for campus recruitment during pre final year. Rate of placement from campus is around 80 percent.

FETJU Calcutta Campus & Intra Facilities:
Campus: To trace the history of Jadavpur University is to trace a part of India’s freedom movement, at least from the Swadeshi Movement onwards. It was 1905 -1906.

Bengal stood divided. The times were feverish.

The hegemony of the British establishment had to be challenged. Education had to play a new role in this changed scenario. It had to become a new form of resistance through which the emergent nationalist spirit could be propagated. With this in mind the National Council of Education (NCE) came into being.

Its primary aim was to impart education – literary, scientific and technical on national lines exclusively under national control. To achieve self-reliance, through education. The foundation of the NCE was made possible by the munificence – scholarly as well as monetary – of the likes of Raja Subodh Chandra Mallik , Brajendra Kishore Roychowdhury of Gouripur as well as Sir Rash Behari Ghosh (first President of NCE), poet Rabindranath Tagore and Sri Aurobindo Ghosh.

In 1910 the Society for the Promotion of Technical Education in Bengal which looked after Bengal Technical Institute (which later became College of Engineering and Technology, Bengal) was amalgamated to NCE. NCE henceforth looked after the College of Engineering and Technology, Bengal which by 1940 was virtually functioning as a University. After Independence, the Government of West Bengal, with the concurrence of the Govt. of India, enacted the necessary legislation to establish Jadavpur University on the 24th of December 1955.

Central library: adavpur University Library was started along with the establishment of the University in 1955 in order to cater the academic and research needs of the faculty, research scholars, students, officers and non-teaching staff. Since then, the University Library has gone from strength to strength to live up to the expectations of its immediate clientele. It is one of the best-equipped libraries in the country. The University is proud of its library system, which comprises the Central Library, Salt Lake Campus Library, 33 Departmental Libraries under the Faculty of Arts, Science, Engineering and Technology, and also the Libraries attached with the Schools and Centres for studies. The Central Library of Jadavpur University is one of the central facilities used by all types of members of this University. This is the third largest library in West Bengal.

FETJU Calcutta Hostel & Mess Facilities:
There are 13 (4 for Girls and 9 for Boys) hostels with provision for accommodating over 1500 students. Accommodation in both Women’s hostel and Boys’ hostel falls much short of the demand and efforts are being made for extension of the existing buildings and construction of new buildings. Hostel Mess is conducted by the Students Mess Committee under the guidance of the Superintendent of the respective hostel. The Main Hostel complex is situated outside the campus. At the Main Hostel complex, the P.G. Hostels as well as at the Ladies’ Hostels there are private canteens supervised by the Students’ Committee. We have an exclusive hostel for Research Scholars. A few Research Scholars are accommodated in the Old P. G. and New P.G. Hostels.
