Tie Breaking Rules for WBJEE 2012/JEM 2012

In case of a tie in Merit List for Engineering/Technology ranking, the same will be broken by sequentially applying the following set of rules:

  • Maximum marks scored in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
  • Minimum of negative marks in total
  • Maximum marks scored in Mathematics and Physics
  • Minimum of negative marks in Mathematics and Physics
  • Maximum marks scored in Mathematics and Chemistry
  • Minimum of negative marks in Mathematics and Chemistry
  • Maximum of marks scored in Physics and Chemistry
  • Minimum of negative marks in Physics and Chemistry
  • Maximum marks scored in Mathematics
  • Minimum of negative marks in Mathematics
  • Maximum marks scored in Physics
  • Minimum of negative marks in Physics
  • Maximum marks scored in Chemistry
  • Minimum of negative marks in Chemistry
Finally, if still there is clustering, the date of birth of the candidates will be used to order the merit list. The older candidate will be given preference over the younger one.
